For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
a time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.
What gain has the worker from his toil?
I have seen the business that God has given to the sons of men to be busy with.
He has made everything beautiful in its time; also he has put eternity into man's mind, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.
I know that there is nothing better for them than to be happy and enjoy themselves as long as they live;
also that it is God's gift to man that every one should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil.
I know that whatever God does endures for ever; nothing can be added to it, nor anything taken from it; God has made it so, in order that men should fear before him.
That which is, already has been; that which is to be, already has been; and God seeks what has been driven away.
Moreover I saw under the sun that in the place of justice, even there was wickedness, and in the place of righteousness, even there was wickedness.
I said in my heart, God will judge the righteous and the wicked, for he has appointed a time for every matter, and for every work.
I said in my heart with regard to the sons of men that God is testing them to show them that they are but beasts.
For the fate of the sons of men and the fate of beasts is the same; as one dies, so dies the other. They all have the same breath, and man has no advantage over the beasts; for all is vanity.
All go to one place; all are from the dust, and all turn to dust again.
Who knows whether the spirit of man goes upward and the spirit of the beast goes down to the earth?
So I saw that there is nothing better than that a man should enjoy his work, for that is his lot; who can bring him to see what will be after him?

St. Christopher Medal Rosary #2

I'm trying to use the vintage medals I have, so here's another St. Christopher vintage medal rosary! Enjoy the pics. Let me know what you think.

The Chaplet of the Holy Ghost

The Chaplet of the Holy Ghost is a specialized chaplet with prayer and bead groupings different from the traditional 59 bead Marian Rosary. Click here for the site this information came from.

The Chaplet of the Holy Ghost was composed in 1892 by a Franciscan Capuchin missionary of the English province in order to give the faithful an easy means of honoring the Holy Ghost. It was approved by Pope Leo XIII in 1902. It is intended to be in regard to the Holy Ghost what the Dominican Rosary is in regard to the Blessed Virgin.

This rosary consists of 5 groups of 7 beads each. Before and after each group there are 2 large beads, that is, 12 large beads in all. In addition there are 3 small beads at the beginning.
On these three beads one makes the sign of the Cross, recites an act of contrition, and the hymn Come Holy Ghost. In each group the Glory be is said on the 7 small beads, an Our Father and a Hail Mary on the 2 large beads. On the remaining 2 large beads are said the Apostles Creed and an Our Father and Hail Mary for the intention of the Holy Father.

There is a mystery for each of the 5 groups; the number 5 commemorating the Five Wounds of Jesus which are the fountains of grace which the Holy Ghost imparts to all men. The reflections suggested are as follows:

THE FIRST MYSTERY
By the Holy Ghost is Jesus conceived of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The Meditation: The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the Power of the Most High shall overshadow thee; and therefore also the Holy which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. (Luke, I, 35)

The Practice: Diligently implore the aid of the Divine Spirit, and Mary's intercession, to imitate the virtues of Jesus Christ, Who is the Model of virtues, so that you may be made conformable to the image of the Son of God.

THE SECOND MYSTERY
The Spirit of the Lord rested upon Jesus when he was baptized.

The Meditation: Jesus, being baptized, forthwith came out of the water: and lo! the heavens were opened to Him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming upon Him. (Matthew, III, 16)

The Practice: Hold in the highest esteem the priceless gift of sanctifying grace, infused into your soul by the Holy Ghost in Baptism. Keep the promises to which you then pledged yourself. Increase, by constant practice, Faith, Hope, and Charity. Ever live as becometh children of God and members of God's true Church, so as to obtain, hereafter, the inheritance of heaven.

THE THIRD MYSTERY
By the Spirit is Jesus led into the desert to be tempted by the Devil.

The Meditation: Jesus, being full of the Holy ghost, returned from the Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the desert for the space of forty days; and was tempted by the devil. (Luke, IV, 1-2)

The Practice: Be ever grateful for the sevenfold gift of the Holy Ghost bestowed upon you in Confirmation, for the spirit of wisdom and understanding, of counsel and fortitude, of knowledge and piety, and of the fear of the Lord. Faithfully yield to His Divine guidance, so that, in all the trials and temptations of life, you may act manfully, as becometh a perfect Christian and valiant soldier of Jesus Christ.

THE FOURTH MYSTERY
The Holy Ghost in the Church.

The Meditation: Suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a mighty wind coming, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting....and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak....the wonderful works of God. (Acts, II, 2, 4, 11.)

The Practice: Thank God for having made you a child of His Church which is ever animated and directed by the Divine Spirit, sent into this world for that purpose of the day of Pentecost. Hear and obey the Holy See, the infallible mouthpiece of the Holy Ghost, and the Church, the pillar and ground of truth. Uphold her doctrines, seek her interests, defend her rights.

THE FIFTH MYSTERY
The Holy Ghost in the soul of the just man and just woman.

The Meditation: Know you not that you members are the temple of the Holy Ghost, Who is in you? (I Cor., VI, 19.) Extinguish not the Spirit. (I Thess., V, 19.) And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God whereby you are sealed unto the day of redemption. (Eph., IV, 30.)

The Practice: Be ever mindful of the Holy Ghost Who is within you, and carefully cultivate purity of soul and body. Faithfully obey His Divine Inspirations so that you may bring forth the Fruits of the Spirit -- Charity, Joy, Peace, Patience, Benignity, Goodness, Long-suffering, Mildness, Faith, Modesty, Continency, Chastity.

Conclude with the "I believe" as a profession of faith. Say finally once Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory be to the Father, for the intentions of the Sovereign Pontiff.

The hymn for "Come Holy Ghost"Veni Creator Spiritus"
1) Come Holy Ghost, Creator blest, and in our hearts take up thy rest; Come with they grace and heav'nly aid to fill the hearts which thou has made;to fill the hearts which thou has made.
2) O Comforter, to thee we cry, thou heav'nly gift of God most high,Thou Font of life and fire of love, and sweet anointing from above:and sweet anointing from above.
3) Praise be to thee, Father and Son, and Holy Spirit, with them One:And may the Son on us bestow the gifts that from the Spirit flow;the gifts that from the Spirit flow.

I love using the Red Agate and Carnelian for matters of the Spirit with their red and orange hues. They remind me of the fire and flames of the Spirit burning in the hearts of the faithful.

Crucifix: Instead of a cross, I used a silver dove/spirit holding a Blessed Host surrounded by a beautiful resin designed circle.

Center: Silver metal Blessed Virgin Miraculous Medal.

Ave/Pater: Faceted Red Agate Gemstones. The three smaller beads at the beginning of the chaplet are Carnelian.

Spacer beads: All glass red, gun metal, and smoke colored beads.

GIFTED! St. Christopher Vintage Medal Rosary

I love this large, vintage St. Christopher medal. It is paired with a metal cross and an orange/yellow resin embellishment. Center is a metal heart with "Faith" carved across the front. All spacer beads are glass, and the Ave and Pater beads are genuine faceted Red Agate. I used crinkle wire with this one, and I kind of like the funkiness of it. Plus, it's a heavier gauge for the heavier Agate beads.

St. Christopher Chaplet (Bracelet/Rear View Mirror Beads)

A 9-bead chaplet to St. Christopher, patron saint of sports and save travel. the chaplet is a complete circle with a magnetic clasp - easy as a bracelet or an auto rosary for the rear view mirror. St. Christopher, protect us, be my guide. Great for a new driver!

How to Pray the Chaplet of St Christopher, Patron Saint of travelers:

On the three sets of three beads, pray1 Our Father, 1 Hail Mary and1 Glory Be for each set.

On the last bead, pray:
"Grant me, O Lord a steady hand and watchful eye. That no one shall be hurt as I pass by. Thou givest life. I pray no act of mine may take away or mar that gift of Thine. Shelter those, dear Lord, who bear me company, from the evils of fire and all calamity. Teach me to use my car for others' need, nor miss through love of undue speed the beauty of the world, that thus I may with joy and courtesy go on my way. Saint Christopher, holy Patron of travelers, protect me and lead me safely to my destiny."

In conclusion, say this prayer on the medal:
"Dear Saint Christopher, you have inherited a beautiful name - Christopher - as a result of a wonderful legend that while carrying people across a raging stream you also carried the Child Jesus. Teach us to be true Christ-bearers to those who do not know Him. Protect all drivers who transport those who bear Christ within them. Amen."
